PAST EVENTS:

October 10th & 11th 2009---- Sixth Annual Theatrical Tea Review

Decades of Delights: 1890 - 1980

Decades of Delights Our 6 th Annual Theatrical Tea was a delicious success. This year’s theme, “Decades of Delights,” highlighted the periods between the 1890’s and 1980’s. Again this year, volunteers demonstrated their creative talent as they designed table settings, each depicting the fashion and culture of one decade. Jordana Capra compiled a playlist of music featuring songs from each decade which played throughout the day’s festivities. Many guests dressed in hats and dresses that portrayed a time period.

Perhaps the most heart-warming event of each day was the reading of an authentic letter written by an Army friend of Louise’s father during WW II. The writer, an Italian American soldier, wrote to Louise’s mother, telling her how beautiful she was and how lucky she and her husband were to have each other. The actor impersonating the writer created a lovable character by reading the letter with an Italian accent, as depicted by the phonetically written words on the page. Guests were both moved and amused at the tenderness and sincerity of this lovely and memorable letter.

Financially, this was the best year ever! We made $15,253 compared to $13,624 last year. The silent auctions, raffles, and services such as massage, handwriting analysis and angel card readings were also successful. Most impressive this year were the generous donations given at the tea, adding an additional $2,400 to our fundraiser.

Several guests who hadn’t attended for the past few years were pleasantly delighted by how much the fundraiser has grown.  Some even asked what periods we would feature next year so they could start making their costumes!  There was only complaint….they loved our homemade food so much, the guests wanted more! Everyone’s efforts should be applauded.
